A Message from the Associate Bethel Guardian
Hello,
I am Dad Paul Shuey.
For several years now I have had the honor of serving the girls of Bethel One of Arlington, Virginia International Order of Jobs Daughter’s (IOJD) with several different adult support jobs. At present, I am serving you as the Associate Bethel Guardian. My duties include: helping other adults, especially Mom Marshall, to better serve you young ladies, provide for verification of Masonic heritage by petitioners, and with the help of other adults - look out for your continued safety as best as I can.
As a result of my assigned duties, I have few direct assignments with you other than to observe you and cheer for you when I see your good deeds and actions. These are signposts that you are on your way to growing up well. It always warms my heart to see them. I hope you hear me cheer (sometimes it will just be an unexpected smile on my face) because I almost always see something positive in one of you that indicates you are on the way to being a great grown-up every time we get together for an activity or a meeting. Whether it is your victory of self-determination and effort of going off book in a meeting, or it is girls reaching out to include sister Jobies in their conversation or activity, I am pulling for you. I am pulling that each one of you will continue to set signposts so that our Bethel will always be full of Jobies' signposts pointing the way to growing up well. Your signposts help other Jobies set signposts that will help you set more signposts yet again. I just smile and say, “Way to go Bethel One Jobs Daughters!”
Parents and adults properly see IOJD as the premier character and leadership building organization to safely nurture and help young women to grow into ladies with their highest potential of grace, poise, and consideration for God, country and their families. My personal observation is that Jobies know that when they get together, they have a good chance of creating positive feelings with each other and they have a good opportunity to laugh and enjoy life with their many different Jobie friends.
Watching you ladies at meetings, competitions, working to raise money for our Hearing Impaired Kids Endowment (HIKE) charity, and at various other events outside the Bethel, I see you are growing in responsibility with your organizational role leadership skills, you are growing with your positive social interactions, and that that you are always ready to play.
In other words, Bethel One finds Jobs Daughter’s is Serious Fun!
I heartily agree with and encourage you daughters in your pursuit of Serious Fun as you grow up. As the JOBIE QUEST Overseer, I invite you to share the Serious Fun at Bethel One. Let’s see if we adults and sister Jobies can together help you get one or more of your friends to come and join us - so they can laugh with us and set their own signposts with us as they grow up in our Bethel.
As long as I have the privilege to serve you in one way or another at Bethel One, we are all in this together. I will be on the sideline rooting for each of you!
Dad Shuey
